20130606 Taiwan Day 5 - Hualien

Day 5 was a leisurely day where we left Taipei and moved south.  For that day, we travelled to Hualien so that we could wake up early the next day to go up to the mountains.

Mommy was so bored she was playing with creamer and coffee every morning in Keymans Hotel. :P

Firstly, the coffee was dark brown.  Secondly, mommy poured the creamer into the coffee.  Thirdly, the coffee, instead of dark brown, it became light brown coffee.  Haha.

Si yiyi and mommy went for last minute shopping at xinmending again before we rushed back to Keymans Hotel to check out.

After checking out, we went to the nearby McDonald's for lunch (and to enjoy the aircon - it is summer in Taiwan afterall).  Yep, we seems to be eating a lot of fast food/fried food/junk food in Taiwan.  There are all the Taiwanese delicacies? Popo asked.

Me and Charlie at the Taiwan McDonald's near to our hotel. I have chicken nuggets and milk.
After lunch, we took the Zhiqiang train to Hualien.   K slept in the train again :) Everyone is simply amazed by her ability to sleep when she was in Taiwan (because she always refuse to sleep in Singapore).

Me and mommy on our way to Hualien.  The journey is almost 3 hours.

We booked 2 rooms (A1 and A3) in Sunrise Minsu in Hualien for our overnight stay. We specifically asked for the lowest rooms available as we had read in tripadvisor that there was no lift (and po po has weak legs). Hualien (at least the part of Hualien that we saw) had many car showrooms, which made mommy wondered - who wants to come here to buy cars?

Me at Hualien hotel.  Did you know what?  A 7 seater car how great! Lucky we don't have to walk so much.
Our room (A1) was a room with princess theme, complete with canopy bed, pink curtains and chandeliers! So sweet!

One thing about our princess hotel though - we are not allowed to throw the toilet paper into the toilet bowl - we have to throw it into the dustbin instead.

Me and Charlie in the princess hotel.  My room number is A1, Charlie's room number is A3.  I am holding onto the canopy bed curtains, Charlie is on the bed on the floor.

Me holding my bolster, Charlie is next to the toy dog, and yy is holding onto his bolster.

The view outside our window.  It was evening time and the clouds were low on the sides of the mountains.

The chandelier in our princess room.  It has 6 lights shaped like tears, and there are jewellery under the chandelier.

The light for the living room.  There is a bear playing a violin, and there is a piano too.

The light for the princess toilet.  There is a bear playing a guitar.  The bear looks like a fairy bear and there is a saxophone too.
The minsu was about 20 min by foot from Zhiqiang Night Market, so we went there for dinner.  The place is small (again), very clean, with a few stalls selling bbq food (you choose the raw food from their selection and then you will be given a number tag and you can come back to collect your food later).  There are many stalls selling cooked food (mostly hot plate with noodles).  So we just went to one of them for dinner.  We were given super big serviettes to protect ourselves from the oil from the hot plate.    LOL!

Me showing the paper.  Did you know what? I pretend the mirror is a magic mirror with flowers on the top and decoration. :)

Me holding up the princess room pillow.
After we had our dinner, we bought 2 rice dumplings from the night market (it was near to the Dumpling Festival aka duan wu jie) and also breakfast from a nearby 7-11 (the minsu does not provide breakfast) and went back to our rooms for an early night.
