mommy's thoughts

Whenever we reached home, one of us would carry Kate to face the statue of the Goddess of Mercy to 'report'.

Nowadays, after watching too much Ninja Warrior and how the contestants run backward to gain momentum to scale the Crooked Wall, she will now run to the other end of the living room, and stand there and smile broadly, waiting for us to coax her. She will then run from that corner of the room into my arms for me to lift her up and carry her to 'report' to the Goddess of Mercy. Most of the times though, the coaxing will take very long, or she will just run halfway, then go back, or run abit, then stop, and wait for more coaxing, all the while smiling because she have so much fun in what was previously such a short and simple activity.

Hand washing also become a playful affair as she will refuse to dip her left hand to wash her hand in the basin of water, or will slap her hands on the surface on the water and wet the whole floor. Hand washing now takes at least 5 minutes instead of the usual 1 minute.

She no longer calls her bicycle de-de-de-DAL but called it "bike-tickle".

Kate has a painted butterfly cardboard cutout and now we use it to play almost everynight. I will say 'butterfly butterfly fly (bad grammer!) in the sky. Butterfly lands on ..." and she will either choose an item for the butterfly to land on. Or I will choose an item, and she will name it. Of course it does not start off like this. At the beginning I was the one choosing the item, and saying the name of the item (those items that she already know) but gradually she started to participate. And she called butterfly 'utter-ly'. And 2 days ago, she saw her first real butterfly at the heardcourt across the road.

Last but not least, she finally called me "mommy".
