20111223 Year End Concert

Its year end again, and time for Kathleen's chid care's year end concert.

This time round, they change the venue from a primary school to Yishun Safra.

There are two K1 classes in her child care, and this year, both classes combined together to put together 2 performance - one in Chinese and one in English.

As usual, videos always take eternity to upload into youtube using my home's broadband, so here are some pictures instead.

 They first perform the dance to a Chinese old song (a popular song from the early 80s).  The girl and her friends all went to the wrong side of the stage (see picture below) and wander around for some time before they realise its the wrong side and move back to the correct side.

 Their 2nd performance was to a English pop song from 2011 (hahahaha).  The shirt says 'I Hip Hop'.

A funny thing happened after the performance.  Mommy dumped her clothes into the washing machine, and when done, was surprised to find a new-looking white singlet inside the laundry.  Then after taking out all the laundry, she found the cut-outs below (see below picture).  Seems that their unique 'I Hip Hop' T shirt is actually a normal white singlet with the words (cut from felt fabric) glued onto it, and one wash is all it takes for the words to come out :P

They also participated in some Chinese recital performance but really 'catch no ball'

20100602 four....

Found this in Kate's file... the school has been teaching them writing.. and this time its the chinese word 'four'.

Look at how her writing 'progresses'.  Most probably the teacher was guiding her at the beginning but afterwards let her write on her own.

So in the end (the last cell) it was looking more like a heart shape window with curtains ;P

2009 Child Care year end concert

Today is a exciting  day for papa and mommy as it is Kate's year end concert.  Her last year end concert (under her playgroup then) ended in tears as she got frightened of the huge group of audience and break into tears and refuse to perform.

Busy as he is, papa rushed between 2 meetings so that he can see her perform. 

Before the performance started, papa and mommy went to the rooms where the children were.  Tried as they might, they cannot recognise Kate among the heavily-made-up children from outside the room! :P

Later, while waiting for the concert to start, papa saw some tables selling photos from the full dress rehearsal held a few days earlier.  He came back to mommy with excitement,saying that he saw a few shots of Kate, splendid in her costume.  Mommy went to check out the photos, and came back telling papa that the girl looks like Kate, but when did Kate never stand there and smile sweetly into a camera?

Next, all the individual class is supposed to perform an item.

Her class is supposed to perform a Malay dance.  Here is a snapshot.  Kate was already pointing and swaying even before the music started.  See video below for proof.  She is sooo cute.... esp when she is so petite :P

Below is another video of the whole performance.  She is the kid is the rightmost side (your right, ie) with the peach costume.  Look how she is jumping up and down most of the time while her partner is more concerned about his nose or nails. The video is very shaky cos mommy keep laughing at her funny antics.

It could be because this time the audience are seated much further away, but this time round, she did not cry. Brave gal! :)

After the performance, we fetch her home, but not before taking some pictures in her cute costume.

 

Look at all her act-cute gestures she learnt from watching Taiwanese variety shows!

 

So all in all, she did put up a entertaining performance! :)

20090904 first day at child care

Today is Kate's first day at child care.  Papa and mommy brought her over, and stayed with her for breakfast, and then papa left for work.

Mommy stayed with her for a while more,and left when the teacher brought the whole class to the playground area as Kate had insisted that mommy sit with her during lesson time.

Here is a picture of Kate sitting on the floor while waiting for the rest of the class to be finish putting on her shoes.  A very beautiful shot, I might say, as it show how her super straight hair fly all around her (she was sitted below the fan), and the little bit of apprehension that is shown on her face.

Mommy went for a hair cut, and she went back during naptime.  The teacher told her that Kate had behaved relatively well, cried abit during shower, but have finished her lunch and managed to fall asleep with the rest of the children.

p/s the name of the child care is deliberately left out :)
