20090828 Janice's birthday

Kate in her new dress bought by Auntie Xiaowen...
It is Janice 表姐's birthday the next day so 姨姨 bought a small cake for celebration.  This is Kate sitting with 大姨姨 while waiting for the cake to be ready...
Lighting up the candles....
The cake is designed by Janice herself...
Posing with the cake... what's with young kids and that index-finger-in-the-air pose???

20090822

Mommy found a playground with 2 see-saws while walking around the neighbourhood.
Here is Kate sitting on her own, for the very time, on one end of the see-saw, high up in the air.  Look at that grin :)
Nowadays, while she is playing with the Hamtaros, she will pretend that they went to the playground and sat on the see-saw.

20090819 shots taken by Kate

Kate likes to take mommy's handphone and then go around taking pictures of items at home (or of mommy herself) and causing 'low batt' emergencies...  Below are some snapshots taken by her. Some are blur, of course...
mommy's hairclip.
her own play gym (whatever u call it)...
her new bookshelf...
a magnetic board drawing done by mommy...
the mini magnetic stamps....
remote control....
the Singapore flag made by her (ok..her teachers) in playgroup for National Day...
her crayons....
her toys-of-the-moment, the Hamtaros
fan....

20090816 tap-tap-tap (assemble a book shelf)

Soon after watching a old Hi5 video about tap-tap-tap (Kathleen deLeon (yes, another Kathleen) singing while building a box), mommy and papa went in search of a book shelf so that Kate can have her own little library, filled mostly with books that her older cousins have outgrown.
Here is a picture of Kate using the screwdriver to drive in the screws.

20090812 balloons

Mommy went for a 2 hour balloon course at Bishan CC and learnt to make flower, dog, swan and sword.  Here are some of them with Kate... the swan and the sword burst. :P

20090812 mommy's thoughts

Since the last mommy's thoughts update, Kate had learnt the phrase 'I want..'

So now 'I want ball ball','I want sit down', etc...which makes me very happy until I hear 'I want dunwan!'. Oooopsss! :P

She also manage to cycle on her tricycle now on her own which is an accomplishment since it means that her leg muscles are now even stronger than before. :)

20090810 polliwogs@east coast

Kate was recovering from her running nose/cough/phlegm and so mommy decided to bring her to meet some mommy friends for some fun at the newly opened indoor playground at Polliwogs at East Coast.

It was drizzling that day and so the outdoor area was not opened. So disappointing :(

Kate on one of the bridges.

With Denise at the ball area. Denise is getting prettier! :)

Papa join in the fun.

Kate going down the slide into the ball area. She will get out of the area, look for the nearest 'staircase' up and shout 'ballball, ballball' and then slide down again. The slides are all very smooth which is fun, but dangerous too.

Trying to crawl through the net. There is another one which is big enough for walking through, and these 2 seems to be the most under utilised part of the playground :P

All the steps are made with rounded 'logs' like those children's gym material so that kids will not injure themselves if they fall.

Kate, Caelan and Meg. Cae had recently being promoted to gor-gor status. :)

Meg having alot of fun with the balls....

Meg and Kate carrying the little balls to put into the inverted funnel so that they will be drawn up the tubing and then shoot out from the top of the funnel.

Denise going down the slide to the balls area.
Regina and her paternal grandparents. She has active grandparents! :) Regina is very sweet and always dresses in style!
Regina and Kate. Don't know why Kate sticks out her tongue.

part of the tunnel which has 'punching bags' obstacles.

another obstacle. All made of soft, gym-like material

We left when the place gets more crowded with the arrival of more children (including older children who tend to push without thinking) and went for lunch with some of the mommies at the hawker before leaving for Bedok Jetty for some aeroplane viewing. Could only see one though.

On the way back to the car park. Kate is struggling as she wanted mommy to carry her, but mommy is too tired. Mommy woke up the next morning with sore hips from too much climbing up and down at the playground.

20090809

The 2 cousins together.

Mommy had wanted to take a picture of them when they are both absorbed in their colouring, their heads lowered and almost touching each other. But the sound of the NDP parade's fireworks disrupted their concentration and they look up.

Its interesting to see how they play together, given that they are born only 8 days apart. Its almost like watching 2 very different fraternal twins.. ahahhaa....

Nicole 表姐's birthday cake.....

ice cream cake..yummy! and mommy's favourite Pooh character Eeyore!

The 2 cousins playing some funny games which they march from one end of the room to the other, and then do many rounds of jump before running to the starting point again. Kate likes to follow her 表姐 and join in whatever her 表姐 was doing.

20090808

Kate's playgroup must have been teaching them about national day, for one day she came home with a crown, and a self-made Singapore flag. And on that day, when she walks home from nanny's place with mommy, she will shout 'Singapore!' whenever she sees the Singapore flag.

Kate also gave a surprise that night after we got back from Sentosa. She pulled her tricycle to the middle of the living room, and then start cycling! Before that, she had not shown that she had the strength to pedal the tricycle. Look at how proud she is to be able to cycle half the length of the living room! :)

20090808 long weekend Sentosa

It is the 3 day long weekend for National Day, and mommy had a long string of activities lined up for Kate!

On the first day, Kate and mommy and papa went to Sentosa. She had been learning about marine animals in her playgroup and the teacher had suggested that we bring her to the Underwater world as both the teacher and mommy are concerned about her well bring if she were to follow the teachers on their school field trip.

We drove to Sentosa and parked at the Dolphin Lagoon carpark before taking the yellow line bus to Underwater world.

Along the way, we can see the roller coaster tracks of the soon-to-be-opened Sentosa World Resort.
Outside Underwater world....papa is sponsoring for all activities for the day! Thankyou!

Next to a real turtle....

At the touch pool. There are many stingrays and they are very naughty, swimming along the sides and splashing water onto the visitors (maybe they don't like the visitors ahahah)

The only starfish mommy can find... Kate like toy/cartoon starfish...but refuses to touch the real thing....

garden eel.

moray eel.

shark embryo across the different weeks.... the embryo are still alive inside, so I supposed the keepers will move them to the next section (next week's size) week after week? :P

seahorse

a marine fishtank with 2 holes for the visitors to put their hands inside... what are they suppose to feel?

Papa took alot of pictures of the marine fish tank... he must have missed his marine fishes....

fossils exhibition

ancient looking fishes... there is a RFID 'window' on the fish tank window. Whenever a fish swims pass, the computer next to the tank will display information about that fish. Mommy wonders how they do that. Did they tag/chip the fishes?

inverted horseshoe crab. Did not move throughout our whole trip there. Is it dead?

hermit crab.

Information about Sea angel

sea angel through the magnifying glass on the fish tank....

cannot remember what this is...

cuttlefish. When mommy put her hand on the tank, the cuttlefish's skin will change abit of colour and produce black spots on its skin. Perhaps its a way to scare potential predators away?

octopus.....
Japanese giant crab

crab

Kate's favorite part of the underwater world - playing with the buttons. She does not even bother that the different buttons light up different parts of the crab above.

a small setup for visitors to crawl into the middle so that their head is being surrounded by a small tank.
taking picture of papa from inside the above setup.

looks like danruff/dust mite ... :P
jellyfish! beautiful!

papa taking a picture from outside the setup at mommy and Kate who are inside...

more jellyfish....

the travellator.... kate is more interested in the cold metal handle than the fishes..mmmm...

marine animals as seen from the travellator...

another of Kate's favorites, buttons that provide commentary on earth's history in different languages.
Conclusion? Kate does not appreciate Underwater world. Luckily she is below 3 years old so we did not have to get an admission ticket for her.
Next, lunch at Silver Shell Cafe.. Kate's favorite pasta....

We then take the red line bus and go to the Dolphin lagoon. The weather is getting warm and stuffy.
The 'usual' dolphin show. And when the MC selected 2 tourists to join the dolphin and one is from Austria and one from Germany, there are some laughter/sniggering from the crowd. It must be so soccer joke.....

After the dolphin performance, we went to the Palawan Beach. The sun was hidden by the clouds and it was not so sunny, so Kate managed to have some fun on the sand...

Look at the haze....

Look at how Kate's hair move gently in the wind. This kind of thing can never happen to mommy with her curly hair... ahahaha
Sand play time!

In the end, all Kate wanted was to go to the sea and fill up her watering can with seawater, before walking a few steps up the beach and then watering the sand. At home that night, she still wanted to pretend that she is at the beach and asked for 'water', so mommy asked her to pretend that the playyard is filled with water and then she had some fun 'scooping' 'sea'water in the comfort of the home.
After playing for a while, the tide changes and began to bring in some rubbish and fallen leaves, and so we packed up and leave the island....
